Fang, Junhui wins National Geographic Award

06.2019 - Junhui Fang, the young ALPA photographer, receives the PEOPLE'S CHOICE WINNER Award in the 2019 National Geographic Travel Photo Contest. Upon reaching its 31st edition, the 2019 National Geographic Travel Photo Contest has received participations from over ten thousand photographers from more than 185 countries.

The collaboration between National Geographic and Junhui Fang begins in 2017, when National Geographic selects 9 of the photographs made by Fang Junhui: 1 photo of the day, 1 photo of the week, 2 Top Shot, 4 Daily Dozen, 1 Assignment and the rest as Discovery.



About the winning photo:

"Follow the light" is the title of the awarding photo made by Junhui Fang in the summer of 2018, and which he recalls as follows: "On the 30th July of 2018 Prof. Lin Lecheng of the Academy of Fine Arts of Tsinghua University and I took a flight from Beijing to Chengdu, from where we drove then for 14 hours, until we reached Lurung gar located 4200 meters above the sea level. and the journey is quite tough due to the mountainous roads.The photo was taken at Seda Larung Gar Buddhist Academy. This view shows small red homes on the left side, while empty green roads curve on the other side. The monks follow the lights to return home. I was lucky to document the area and was deeply moved by the monks faith. I plan to return to Seda next summer."


About the Winner:

Junhui's passion for photography prompts him, in May of 2018, to start his photography business based in Beijing CBD, Beijing Travel Photography Network Technology Co., LTD. Junhui Fang and his partner are intent on creating a travel and photography app that can meet the needs of lovers of travel, life and photography. The next step? found a private photography institute and a photographic museum.
