Impressions from Antarctica and the Desert

11.2017 - ALPA-Photographer Pierre-Alain Folliet's latest work is part of the upcoming exhibition "Antarctica Blues & Much More" at the ArtDynasty Gallery in Geneva. The event begins with the vernissage at 6 p.m. on November 23 and ends on February 3, 2018. Pierre-Alain Folliet shows large prints of his pictures taken at the Antarctic and the Liwa Oasis near Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.

All the photographs shown at the exhibition were captured with an ALPA 12 STC and an ALPA 12 FPS camera. "The FPS showed its reliability in every condition", says Pierre-Alain. "Furthermore, one is able to release the shutter nearly without any movement." None of the pictures for the exhibition has been taken with a tripod. Some of them were shot while Pierre-Alain was standing on a small floatable boat.

"When I work with a tripod, I mostly use the electronic shutter of the Phase One IQ3 digital back", Pierre-Alain says. "I always used the STC camera for pictures at land, because it is more resistent to conditions like rain or snow."
